We are an open and vibrant community of researchers looking to connect to other researchers in voice studies . We are open to collaborations with other researchers and institutions. We particularly enjoy discussing anything vocal from various standpoints, so no matter if you are from ‘the field’ or from adjoining fields – do get in touch.

My name is Emily Newton Mattice. I am an opera singer, currently in the ensemble at Staatstheater Nürnberg. I am enrolled in the Master of Arts Voice Pedagogy program.
My MA research has been varied, covering operetta, acoustic pedagogy, and technology in the voice studio. I’m planning to combine all three for my final research project to track performance practice trends in operetta.
Studying evidence-based pedagogy has improved my diagnostics when working with students and given me practical ideas to take into my work as a voice teacher.
I would encourage international applicants to consider the program, which is extremely cost-competitive for international students.
Not only have I benefited immensely from the short online courses and online video library, but I have learned a lot from fellow students, whose diverse backgrounds and research targets have inspired me and expanded my knowledge of the industry. In particular, I am thankful to Debbie Winter, whose astounding talent for big thinking has helped guide and focus me, when I felt lost in the academic weeds. In addition, I appreciate the program’s focus on sound research methodology, a skill that enables students of the program to ultimately submit their research for publication and prepares a foundation for potential doctoral studies.
