Friday 19th January 2024

We are very proud to announce that current MA Voice Pedagogy student Katie Truman-Williams has had a paper accepted for presentation at the upcoming 42nd Annual PAMA International Symposium, which is to be hosted live by the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA) at University College London (UCL) from 18th – 21st July 2024. More information about the event can be found here.

The theme of the symposium is ‘Come Together: Putting research into practice for performing arts medicine across our international community’ and Katie’s paper – titled Why Nutrition Matters – The Positive Impact Reducing Sugar and Carbohydrate Intake has on the Singing Voice – will be featured as part of the event’s Poster Parade presentation. The paper evaluated all recent and relevant key studies on the subject, analysing data on a variety of topics including voice, singing, nutrition, chronic laryngitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), laryngopharyngeal reflux, metabolic syndrome, and insulin resistance.

Congratulations, Katie!
