Voice Study Centre Senior Lecturer Gives Presentation To Central School Of Speech And Drama

We’re very proud of our Senior Lecturer, Emily Foulkes, who has represented the Voice Study Centre and the Singing for Health Network in a presentation given to the Central School of Speech and Drama.
 
Emily’s presentation focused on bridging research practice and supporting the singing for health movement.
 
The Voice Study Centre is pioneering in generating practitioner research in this field, Emily recently published her research in the International Journal of Community Music.

Yesterday, the Voice Study Centre welcomed back Dr. Kourtney Strade Austin, an Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and performing arts health researcher. In a fascinating, interactive session titled "Staging a Coup: History Meets Science for the Coup de la Glotte," Dr. Austin took us on a journey from 19th-century Paris to modern voice science laboratories to debunk the myths surrounding the glottal onset.
