Gimbey dela Cruz is a Philippine-based performing artist, voice teacher, and creator of The Gimbey™ Approach. This voice training system helps performers build reliable vocal skills for the demands of rehearsal, performance, and professional work.
She holds degrees in music education from the University of Santo Tomas and musical theatre from LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. Since 2012, she has worked actively in Philippine theatre as a performer, voice coach, and educator. Her theatre credits include Bar Boys: The Musical, Haus of Zaturnnah: Izang Muzikal, and Katy! The Musical, Rak of Aegis, 3 Stars and a Sun, and Tabing Ilog: The Musical. In Singapore, she appeared in Working and made her Singapore theatre debut in Starting Here, Starting Now.
Gimbey has taught and facilitated workshops for performers, students, teachers, and young artists in a wide range of settings. She has conducted workshops for the Department of Education in the Philippines and training programmes in various provinces across the country. Her work has also reached Singapore, with planned workshops in Dubai as part of her growing regional practice.
What makes her work distinct is that she continues to work inside the theatre industry while also training performers and teachers across the region. Her teaching is shaped by what actually happens in rehearsal rooms, classrooms, auditions, and performances — not just by theory. She focuses on vocal function, body awareness, storytelling, emotional connection, and helping performers understand what their voice is doing instead of simply trying to sound “right.”
Alongside her teaching practice, Gimbey continues to develop voice education tools and frameworks, including Voice Mapping™ and Load Marking, which help performers and educators observe the voice more clearly, track vocal habits, and build skill with less fear and more ownership.
