Julie started her musical journey early in life, she taught herself to play the keyboard and sung at every opportunity. She learnt to play clarinet and trumpet being a valued member of an orchestra following on with Music ‘O’ level and studying Music ‘A’ level.
Then a break came for 10 years, music still in the background.
Classical singing lessons commenced, followed by the start of her journey into teaching. Julie successfully completed her teacher training at the Royal College of Music in Manchester, spending many weekends in the city absorbed in music.
Julie strived for greater skill, development and knowledge to support her passion, and in 2017 began to train with a mentor. The focus was around the physiology of the voice (Estill Method) and over a 6 year period challenged and developed understanding of other methodologies to teach. A self-confessed nerd, Julie has embarked on a Master's Degree in Vocal Pedagogy, her aim is to expand her knowledge and use the opportunity to carry out research and analysis in specialised vocal subjects. Julie is also a lecturer for NDC College in Hartlepool where she works with an amazingly talented and creative faculty all with the same passion, skill and work ethic.
Julie’s passion is for her students; she loves the diversity, creativity and helping new stars on their journeys be it in theatre, pop or mentoring aspiring teachers to qualify with a teaching certificate.
