Kathleen Bell, DMA, is a performer, educator, and certified vocologist, currently serving as Lead Tutor of Research and Singing at the University of the Arts Sharjah. Her work sits at the intersection of vocal practice, pedagogy, and research, with presentations at leading international forums including the Voice Foundation, ICVT, PAVA, NAMM, MTEA, and PEVOC.
Her current focus is on shaping research cultures in music and musical theatre within the SWANA region, with a particular interest in developing forms that move beyond inherited Western models toward locally rooted, culturally responsive practices. She is deeply committed to mentoring emerging artist‑researchers and building bridges between performance, scholarship, and community.
Inspired by initiatives such as the Voice Study Centre and the Musical Theatre Research Alliance, she is actively exploring the creation of a regional hub for research, training, and knowledge exchange in voice and musical theatre—one that can support new artistic languages, foster collaboration, and contribute to a more globally inclusive vision of the field.
