Accent Coaching: Tips For Working With Actors, Singers, And Directors

This two-hour workshop explores accent coaching from a variety of perspectives and includes practical strategies for coaching clients.
Topics will include coaching accents to clients with varying levels of experience, working with directors, adjusting to changing demands on stage or on set, exploring the different needs of actors and singers, and organizing session curriculum.
Participants will gain a wide body of tools they can use immediately in their studio or classroom and additional resources for continued growth.

On the Nose: Nasality as Percept and Physical Reality

This course will address three perspectives on nasality: distinctions between nasal airflow and audio signal (velopharyngeal opening) and perception; deciphering between the two timbral qualities commonly related to nasality - twang and honk - and which are related to velopharyngeal opening; and the pedagogic usefulness of velopharyngeal opening to reduce laryngeal instabilities near points of registration shifts.
