Abigail is a doctoral candidate, pursuing a Doctor of Education at the University of the West of England. Her current area of research and working title is: “Art Isn’t Easy” – An Exploration of Motor Learning Principles in Undergraduate Musical Theatre Singing Andragogy". Abigail holds a Master's in Education from the University of the West of England, is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and is an Estill Master Trainer. Abigail graduated from the University of Plymouth with a BEd Mus (Hons) in 2006.
Abigail currently works within the Performing Arts department at University Centre Weston, as Head of Voice and Singing; specialising in singing and spoken voice, song interpretation and Musical Theatre history and repertoire. She has also served as a guest lecturer at other institutions around the UK. Drawing on her background as a trained dental nurse and pharmaceutical dispenser, Abigail regularly amalgamates this knowledge into her teaching practice, aiming to create a holistic, evidence-based approach. A passionate advocate for vocal research and scientific developments, she regularly attends summits and symposiums in the UK, Europe, and Australia. Abigail is committed to instilling confidence in her students and believe everyone can sing; it is just a matter of giving them the tools to do so.
