Born in Leeds, Michael Vickers trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Vocal Studies and a Distinction in Opera at Master’s level.
Having moved into education, he has taught at leading drama, conservatoires and his private studio. Michael’s students regularly perform in West End musicals, national tours, and opera.
Michael’s appointment as Italia Conti’s Deputy Head of the School of Musical Theatre & Dance in September of 2024, followed four years with the organisation leading the singing department. Michael still continues his specialism in this area continuing on with the dual role of Head of Singing at Italia Conti.
In addition to his work at Italia Conti, Michael is a vocal rehabilitation coach, working clinically within one of the foremost professional voice clinics in Europe, specialising in the rehabilitation of professional singers with functional voice disorders. Michael also delivers training for teachers and has presented his clinical and educational work at conferences both in the UK and internationally.
