Atsushi Kumagai is an accomplished New York City-based jazz vocalist, phonation researcher, composer, and multi-certified vocal coach. Atsushi blends an expansive background in vocal science and performance with a dedicated career in music education.
While completing his undergraduate studies, he performed across diverse musical configurations, including leading his own jazz ensemble and singing with a gospel choir. His performance credits feature notable venues and events such as Carnegie Hall, Central Synagogue, the San Diego Music Festival, and the OC Japan Fair. Demonstrating a multifaceted artistic skill set, he was also recognized in the jazz composition category at the 2021 Global Music Awards.
Following his performance achievements, he completed a post-baccalaureate program at Queens College in New York City to earn his teaching certification. He currently applies his expertise in vocal mechanics and musicianship across public and private institutions, instructing students in voice, piano, music theory, composition, and arrangement.
