Aspiring singing voice specialist, Eulandri Venter is a South African-born, Afrikaans-speaking soubrette, applied voice lecturer and vocal pedagogue. Passionate about performing and committed to training singers in innovative and creative ways, she has been teaching classical voice and vocal pedagogy at the University of Pretoria (UP) since 2016. Her formal training in classical voice began at UP in 2012 under the tutelage of Prof. Hanli Stapela. Venter holds a UNISA Grade 8 in piano (2011), a BMus in Vocal Performance (cum laude, 2015), an MMus in Vocal Performance (cum laude, 2019), and a DMus in Musicology (2025). She has completed the Certificate in Foundations of Vocology with Adam Roberts through the Voice Study Centre, and is currently enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Vocology Program presented by Lamar University. As a full member of NATS, Eulandri has presented her research at the SA NATS Chapter conference in Potchefstroom as well as at SASRIM, PASMAE, and SAAWK conferences in 2024 and 2025. Actively engaged in the local music scene since 2012, Eulandri has performed as a soloist in numerous concerts with the School of the Arts: Music at UP and with various ensembles across Gauteng. Her performance highlights include roles in staged opera scenes such as Spring and Night in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen (2022), Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (2015), Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel (2017 & 2025), and Lucy in Heggie’s Again: An Opera in 10 Minutes (2018), as well as performances at the Wakkerstroom Music Festival in Mpumalanga (2025). She debuted with Brooklyn Theatre in 2020 as Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and with Sempre Opera at the Johannesburg Theatre in July 2025, as Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen.
Venter has received multiple awards, some of which include becoming a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2013 as well as receiving UP achievement awards (2012–2015), the SAMRO music bursary (2013), a UP Postgraduate Masters Research Bursary (2016–2017), the UP Doctoral Research Bursary (2020–2022), and a Laura Bassi Editorial Scholarship (2023). Over the past several years, Eulandri has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Nico de Villiers (2013), Kobie van Rensburg (2016 & 2017), Albie van Schalkwyk (2018), and Robin Phillips (2014 & 2019). Further accolades include Gold and Distinction awards at the Philip H. Moore Music Competition (2015 & 2018), being part of the Shadow Jury for the 2nd UNISA National Voice Competition (2017), and participating in the Javett Music Award competition (2018).
Eulandri is passionate about collaborating with and learning from specialists in other voice-related fields and is actively working towards the PAVA-RV designation. She is currently working as the singing voice practitioner-researcher on a voice team with a local ENT and speech-language pathologists to produce transdisciplinary research. Venter has attended several short courses at the Voice Study Centre, including The Science Underlying Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract Exercises (SOVT) presented by Ingo Titze and Karin Titze Cox; Nasal Resistance Technique: Applications in Clinical and Performance Voice presented by Kari Ragan and Nandhu Radhakrishnan; and Navigating Vocal Health: Understanding Voice Disorders and Rehabilitation for Singers presented by Kari Ragan.
