Dana Zenobi enjoys a multi-faceted career as a performer, teacher, and voice pedagogy scholar.
A champion of art song by women, her 2022 album and annotated score anthology “Joys Abiding: Duets by Historical Women Composers (Navona Records/Classical Vocal Reprints)” with Oliver Worthington and Chuck Dillard has been warmly received. She has an avid interest in Margaret Bonds and has premiered several newly rediscovered works. Zenobi has appeared on opera and concert stages with Austin Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland, The Living Opera, Opera in the Heights, and the Austin Civic Orchestra.
As Assistant Professor of Voice at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN), she teaches studio voice, pedagogy, diction, and vocal literature courses, and directs the Butler University Vocal Competition. Accolades include performing and teaching awards from The American Prize to the 2020 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Voice Pedagogy Award.
Her research explores art song by women, voice acoustics, teaching technology, and music performance anxiety. Dr Zenobi has presented for NATS, the International Music by Women Festival, The Voice Foundation (TVF), the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA), Bel Canto Boot Camp, and the Associated Colleges of the South Gender Studies Conference.
She serves as Indiana District Governor for NATS and is on the El Sistema Indianapolis board. Originally from Northport, NY, Zenobi earned both DMA (Voice Performance & Pedagogy) and MM (Opera Performance) from The University of Texas at Austin. She also holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in Music and Women’s Studies from Duke University.
