Tiago Lima Bicalho Cruz is a professional singer, professor, and speech-language pathologist with over 20 years of experience bridging music performance and vocal science. He holds a Master’s and Ph.D. in Music from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where his doctoral research introduced innovative methods for analyzing facial expressions and vocal parameters in opera singers, advancing the understanding of emotional communication in vocal performance.
Tiago has dedicated his career to helping singers from various musical genres refine their technical skills and enhance their expressive potential, always focusing on individual development. He has taught at prestigious institutions, including UFMG and PUC-MG, focusing on the anatomy and physiology of the singing voice.
Internationally, Tiago served as a visiting researcher at Syracuse University (USA), where he established and managed a voice laboratory, conducted experiments with vocal pedagogy students. His work has been showcased at leading conferences such as PEVOC and The Voice Foundation, reflecting his dedication as a voice researcher and educator.
Combining scientific knowledge with artistic practice, Tiago explores the relationship between facial expressivity and vocal performance in opera singing, contributing valuable insights to the field of multimodal emotional expression.
