Wednesday 21st May 2025

We're proud to share that our alumna Carla Higgins has has her paper published in Voice and Speech Review.

Carla's paper, The Female Voice in Flux: Exploring the Psychological Constructs of Identity and Control in Relation to the Changing Female Voice During Puberty, discusses the psychological consequences which can arise as a result of the changing voice during puberty for female adolescent singers. Discussing concepts of control and identity as possible explanations for a lack of confidence during this time and offering pedagogical strategies to help combat this.

This research formed part of her MA with us!

Carla shared "It is my hope that this research will help young people when singing through adolescence".

Congratulations, Carla! What a wonderful contribution to the voice world.✨
