UK Students and SLC funding - recent changes!

Thursday 26th March 2026

Due to very recent regulatory changes, the MA Voice Pedagogy programme is no longer eligible for UK government student finance via the SLC (Student Loans Company), at least for the time being.

So what are the alternatives?

Lendwise

The good news is that we've partnered with Lendwise*, a specialist education finance provider authorised and regulated by the FCA.

Some benefits:

  • The loan period can be anywhere up to 10 years to ensure monthly repayment amount is manageable.
  • There are no fees/penalties for early repayment of the loan or making overpayments.
  • For full-time students, loan repayments are deferred until the course ends.

Lendwise have produced a short video that explains all you need to know.

Voice Study Centre provides information about Lendwise for educational purposes only. We are not financial advisors, and this recommendation does not constitute financial advice. We encourage all students to seek independent financial advice and to fully understand the terms and conditions of any loan before committing.

Public health funding

If you are based in the UK, you may also be able to access funding from external sources to contribute towards your tuition fees. This Health Careers website contains some resources you can look into.

Other sources:

  • Professional organisations and societies connected to your subject or career path.
  • Employer contributions - if you don't ask, you don't get!
  • Some students use crowd-funding sites (i.e., asking others to help you meet costs).
  • Search for charitable and educational grants - turn2us is a site that specialises in just that, and the The Prospects Funding Postgraduate Study site is definitely worth a browse for additional funding options.

Whatever you choose, there's no doubt that completing our MA degree has created some success stories. Take a look at some of the work our students and alumni are doing here.
