This course is open to everybody but will be most beneficial to Speech Therapists who work with or have an interest in working with voice or ENT Laryngologists.

We are honoured to present our Speech and Language Therapist course hosted by the Elite Performers’ Clinic at Freemans Hospital, Newcastle. During this innovative course, we will explore the potential for evidence based singing pedagogy to expand the therapeutic interventions of the speech and language therapist. Through the lens of an endoscope, we will examine the vocal configurations of the singing voice, the potential for new treatment modalities and the need for new diagnostic protocols to avoid the potential for misdiagnosis.

We will engage in myth busting and charter new territory such as:

  • Pharyngeal shaping and the challenge with MTD diagnosis (the protocols used for speech are not the same for singers)
  • The tongue is not the enemy-Understanding how we use the back third of the tongue to shape timbre and implications for MTD
  • Laryngeal height considerations and how they relate to constriction of the voice
  • Laryngeal pathologies and singing considerations. These topics and so many more to be presented over 2 days with live endoscopic demonstrations for biofeedback
