Jenru Wang has an MFA in Voice Studies with distinction from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London - in this session, he will begin to explore the complexities accent coaches might face in their work, examining the intersection of language, identity, and cultural sensitivity. Participants will explore how to navigate challenging situations in different contexts and understand what to do—and avoid—when working with diverse clients and materials.

Passionate about East and Southeast Asian accents, Jenru focuses on coaching and promoting authentic representation. He has served as Head of Voice at Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company and taught at several leading drama schools. Currently, he is the Senior Voice Tutor at Mountview and continues his professional development under the mentorship of Kay Welch.

Thinking Outside the Voice Box: Adolescent Female Voice Change

Join Dr Bridget Sweet for this 2 hour session as she unpacks this fascinating topic. The purpose of this course is to bring attention to adolescents who experience an estrogen-dominant voice change and to encourage new and holistic ways of thinking about [assigned at birth] female voices. While considering physical changes during adolescence, we will unpack basic vocal anatomy and physiology and then discuss what happens to the vocal mechanism during voice change for females vs. [assigned at birth] males.
