Christina Shewell, MA, FRCSLT ADVS, is a spoken voice teacher and speech and language pathologist, with long experience in both voice development, and voice therapy for speakers and singers. She has been a senior lecturer at University College London, staff member at major British acting schools, a coach in the business world, and a teacher for a variety of voice practitioners. As originator of the Voice Skills approach, she has led a wide range of training courses both nationally and internationally in this, and many other aspects of voice work, including Canada, the US, India and various European countries. In 2009, the Australian Voice Association invited her to run 2-day courses in five Australian cities, in association with the publication of her book, Voice Work: Art and Science in Changing Voices (2009). This has been a core text for a wide range of voice practitioners and the second edition, co-authored with Rockford Sansom, was published in January 2025. Christina’s article, Poetry, Voice, Brain and Body was published in 2020 in the Voice and Speech Review and was nominated for an advanced scholarship award.

Her current interests include the links between voice and neuroscience, emotions, mindfulness, poetry, and well-being. Her writing, presentations and workshops are eclectic and exploratory, and always combine science-based fact with experiential body and voice work.
