Jeannette LoVetri – A ‘Pedagoddess’

Friday 23rd April 2021

Jeannette LoVetri is a name that every experienced singing teacher should know.

The commonly-used term CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music) was coined by Jeannette in 2000 and is now used in various academic mediums such as research journals.

In 2002, Jeanette devised Somatic Voicework™, which uses a body-focused approach to vocal training and combines voice science, classical voice training and bodywork exercises such as yoga and dance. This method enables the body and voice to work together with the mind whilst understanding the function of the instrument.

Jeannette has worked with many universities and currently lectures at Drexel University College of Medicine. She has contributed to a considerable number of publications in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Voice and Journal of Singing, as well as writing for magazines and websites. To date, this amounts to over 30 publications and features.

She has taught singing all over the world, with highly acclaimed students who include Tony Award-Nominated Broadway leads and Grammy winners. Jeannette has also received a lifetime achievement award from the New York Singing Teachers’ Association and the Van Lawrence Fellowship.

Jeanette LoVetri has contributed immeasurably to the Voice Pedagogy field, making her nothing short of a ‘Pedagoddess’!

Join us next week, along with Jeannette, who’ll be hosting an online short course ‘Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method: A Body-Based Approach To Singing Contemporary Commercial Music’.
