Voice Study Centre Tutor Accepted for PhD

In Director & Team News, Student & Alumni News

Voice Study Centre tutor and MA Voice Pedagogy Alumni, Kate Cubley, has been accepted to study for her Ph.D. at De Montfort University.

Kate’s secondary supervisor is Morag Bixley, who is the Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy at DMU.

‘My focus is to determine a practical strategy to support allergy sufferers in habilitating their voice. This hopes to reduce the possibility of the allergy sufferer from developing vocal pathology related to their allergy symptoms.  Taking Pedagogy into Practice, I will be working with a method created originally during my MA, with Voice Study Centre.

I will primarily conduct research with singers and their teachers, but the findings may find merit working with other professional voice users, including teachers, public speakers and actors.

I am really excited to be returning to academic research again and believe it will enhance my role as a teacher, tutor and coach. I’ll be looking for volunteers to assist me in a couple of years time, so if this work resonates with you, please get in touch!

Congratulations to Kate from all at Voice Study Centre!
